Cholera Outbreak Claims Five Lives in Plateau State

A cholera outbreak in Plateau State has resulted in five fatalities and 52 suspected cases, as disclosed by Dr. Nichola Baamlong from the Plateau State Ministry of Health.

The ministry is intensifying public health interventions to contain the outbreak and mitigate its impact on the community. Measures include deploying additional Rapid Response Teams (RRT) to affected wards, expanding treatment centers, and procuring essential medical supplies such as rapid diagnostic test kits and intravenous fluids.

Dr. Baamlong emphasized the importance of safe drinking water, proper hand hygiene, and waste disposal to prevent further infections.

Residents are urged to report any suspected cases to the nearest health facility for immediate treatment. The state government is committed to safeguarding public health and is calling for support from stakeholders to enhance ongoing response efforts.
