50,000 APC members defect to ADC coalition in Sokoto

In Sokoto, 50,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, led by Abubakar Gada, a former senator. Gada described the defection as a turning point in the struggle to liberate the state and the country from years of hardship.

He highlighted the growing frustration with the government, particularly in the northern community, where insecurity, poverty, and unemployment are rampant. Gada emphasized the need for security and economic revival, noting that persistent banditry has crippled agriculture in Sokoto.

He expressed concerns that the ruling party might use state machinery to retain power in 2027. Gada dismissed speculation of late President Muhammadu Buhari's alleged support for the coalition, urging Nigerians to take their destiny into their own hands and drive political change at the grassroots level.

The growing wave of defections to the ADC is seen as proof that Nigerians are ready to chart a new course.
