ADC in Jigawa Delays Primary Election Results Announcement

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State has yet to announce the results of its governorship primary election, which commenced on May 25, 2026. As of May 27, no official winner has been declared.

The ADC electoral committee chairman, Dig Zaki Ahm, a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, addressed stakeholders at Tahir Hotel in Dutsin-Ma, announcing a postponement of the results due to unresolved issues related to the governorship contest. The primary election is described as highly competitive, with Hon.

Adamu Jumbo and Senat Sabo Nakudu among the key contenders. Tensions remain high among the supporters of various aspirants, who express confidence in their candidates.

The electoral committee has received results from 19 out of 27 local government areas, with eight councils still pending. Allegations of malpractice and irregularities have been reported, particularly in Babura, Hadejia, and Gwaram local government areas, while no election was conducted in Guri due to conflicts between two factions of the party.
