73-Year-Old Man Killed in Kwara Bush Burning Tragedy

In Kwara State, a tragic incident occurred where a 73-year-old man, identified as Pastor Awolola, was killed in a bush burning exercise on a parcel of land in Ilorin. The Kwara State Fire Service, through its spokesperson Hakeem Adekunle, received a distress call about the fire incident.

Upon arrival, they found the victim had been trapped by the advancing flames and succumbed to the fire. This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of bush burning, especially during dry and windy conditions.

The Fire Service urged residents to avoid such practices to prevent loss of life and property. This is not the first fatal fire incident in Kwara State, as a previous fire outbreak in December 2024 claimed the life of a 41-year-old man named Abdulfatai in Ilorin West Local Government Area.
