75 Women Set to Compete in Oluremi Tinubu Golf Classic

The inaugural Oluremi Tinubu Golf Classic is set to take place on April 25, 2026, at Canaanland Golf Country Club in Koko, Warri North Local Government Area, Delta State, with no fewer than 75 women golfers expected to compete. The tournament is named in honor of Nigeria's First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and was announced by Felix Aganbi, Chief Executive Officer of Akog Group.

The event aims to strengthen women's golf in Nigeria, create pathways for emerging players, and promote sports development in the Niger Delta. Aganbi noted that the tournament would attract international talent and provide opportunities for emerging players, motivating the next generation of female golfers.

The initiative also seeks to empower women long-term and calls on men across the country to support female participation in sports. Additionally, a golf training tournament for young girls aged 8 to 16 is scheduled for March 8, 2026, coinciding with International Women's Day, to introduce golf in a supportive environment.
