Kano Industrial Fire Causes ₦800m Loss, Fire Service Reports

A fire incident at an industrial facility known as Fatima Crossion Recycling, located in the Dakata area of Kano, has led to an estimated loss of ₦800 million. According to a statement from the Kano State Fire Service, the incident occurred when an open flame, allegedly lit by children to keep warm, ignited the facility.

The fire service, led by Assistant Chief Fire Officer Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, received a distress call from Mr. Joseph regarding the outbreak.

Firefighters from the Dakata and Rijiyar Zaki fire stations were immediately mobilized to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the industrial complex, measuring 300 by 200 feet, engulfed in flames.

The complex was divided into four sections, with approximately 100 stalls completely destroyed by the inferno. The fire service was able to bring the situation under control with the combined efforts of four fire engines, preventing further spread within the complex.

The director of the Kano State Fire Service urged the public to take precautionary measures to prevent such fire outbreaks, particularly advising against the use of open flames in public industrial areas.
