Odinkalu Critiques Nigeria's Opposition Leaders as Ineffective

Chidi Odinkalu, the former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), publicly criticized the leaders of Nigeria's opposition parties, including Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and Peter Obi, during a political discussion on a television program. He described the opposition's handling of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) elections as ineffective and disorganized, stating that there is currently no credible opposition in Nigeria.

Odinkalu specifically referenced the public holiday declaration by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, arguing that the opposition parties missed an opportunity to mobilize support. He expressed disappointment that the opposition failed to demonstrate leadership and instead remained inactive, calling the situation a disgrace.

Odinkalu emphasized that the current political climate reflects a lack of seriousness among the parties and criticized their inability to rally support effectively, stating that there is "absolutely no opposition" in Nigeria.
