VP Shettima Launches Kwara Garment Factory with KWS

On September 23, 2026, Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, commissioned the Kwara State Garment Factory in Ilorin, marking its entry into commercial operation under the management of KWS Garment Production Village. This transition to private sector management was finalized in May 2026, aiming to combine public investment with private manufacturing expertise.

Folake Akindele, CEO of KWS, emphasized the importance of sustainable and competitive garment production, focusing on quality, timely delivery, and job creation. The factory features integrated production capabilities, including fabric preparation, cutting, sewing, and quality control.

Notably, over 80% of KWS's workforce comprises women, reflecting a commitment to meaningful employment and skill development in Nigeria's manufacturing sector. The facility aims to serve both local and international markets, addressing the need for competitive local garment production.
