Dr Mustapha Abdullahi Pursues NBBF Presidency for Sports Growth
Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria and Director of Youth of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, has announced his ambition to lead the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF). He stated that this ambition aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda to develop sports as a source of investment, employment, and economic diversification.
Abdullahi has over two decades of experience in basketball and aims to enhance professional administration, domestic competitions, and commercial partnerships. He envisions a well-managed federation with improved player welfare and development pathways for young athletes.
Abdullahi noted that the restoration of the National Sports Commission (NSC) presents an opportunity for federations to strengthen governance and attract private investment. His grassroots initiatives through the DAM Foundation include constructing a basketball court in Kano and organizing competitions in Okene, supporting over 500 children.
He stressed the importance of strong institutions for nationwide development in basketball.
