Mustapha Abdullahi Elected NBBF President, Succeeds Kida

Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi has been elected as the new President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), replacing Ahmedu Musa Kida, who served two terms. The election took place during the federation's elective congress in Abuja.

Abdullahi, who is also the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, faced minimal opposition as most other candidates were disqualified or withdrew. Ugo Udezue, a former international player, was elected as the new Vice President and had previously been re-elected as the South-East representative on the NBBF board.

Other zonal representatives include Fubara Fobika (South-South), Babatunde Oguntade (South-West), Yusuf Surajo (North-East), Abubakar Abba Kaka (North-West), and Abdullahi Mustafa (North-Central). Following his election, Abdullahi shared his journey from a young basketball enthusiast in Northern Nigeria to his current role, expressing a commitment to the development of Nigerian basketball and the creation of opportunities for young players.
