Abia threatens to shut down private schools evading revalidation exercise

The Abia State government's Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has extended the revalidation exercise for private schools until August 29, 2025. Commissioner Goodluck Ubochi warned that any private school that fails to participate in the exercise will be shut down immediately without the option to appeal.

Ubochi emphasized that the revalidation process is free of charge and no one should be extorted. He made it clear that private schools in Abia State must comply with the revalidation or face closure.

The Ministry has been informed that some private schools in Umuahia and Aba are avoiding the exercise for undisclosed reasons, possibly due to fear of close monitoring by the state government. This warning serves as a reminder to all private schools in Abia State to ensure they participate in the revalidation exercise to avoid potential shutdown.
