Abia Women Protest Alleged Hijacking of Community Resources in Imobi Autonomous Community

Women from three villages in Imobi Autonomous Community, Abia State, protested against individuals trying to seize control of community resources, particularly granite deposits and land. The women, who identify as farmers, accused certain individuals of causing poverty by appropriating resources that belong to the entire community.

They highlighted the environmental impact of granite drilling activities on farmlands and the community's economic and health well-being. Calls were made for government intervention, with representatives like Florence Uka and Adindu Kalu appealing for the prevention of resource hijacking.

The traditional ruler, Ez Simeon Chukwuemeka, also urged the Abia State government to stop individuals from taking over communal resources.
