Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun Rewards Team Ogun with N450m

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun announced a cash reward totaling over N450 million for Team Ogun medalists and coaches in recognition of their exceptional performance at the National Sports Festival. The announcement was made during a cash award ceremony held on Monday, where it was noted that Ogun State finished second overall with a record 239 medals, marking its best performance in the history of the festival.

Governor Abiodun described this achievement as a testament to the steady growth of sports development in the state and emphasized his administration's commitment to recognizing excellence. He disclosed that training allowances and contractual fees for athletes and officials would be settled immediately.

The reward package includes N2.5 million for each of the 93 gold medalists, N1.5 million for 61 silver medalists, and N1 million for 81 bronze medalists. Additionally, he approved N10 million for technical officials and N14.8 million for participating officials.

Abiodun highlighted the transformation of the sports sector in Ogun State and encouraged athletes to remain focused as they prepare for the next National Sports Festival in Enugu.
