Olufunke Aboyade SAN Receives Oyo State at 50 Award in Ibadan Ceremony

Olufunke Aboyade, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and pioneer editor of ThisDay, was conferred with the Oyo State at 50 Award during the state's 50th-anniversary celebration in Ibadan on February 3, 2026. The Oyo State government posthumously honored her father, the late Professor Ojetunji Aboyade, a renowned economist.

Olufunke Aboyade, the Managing Partner of Aboyade & Co, is a Notary Public and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK. She graduated with top honors from the University of Ife, proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, and later obtained an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge.

In 2013, she was conferred with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, becoming the first female SAN in Oyo State. Governor Seyi Makinde hosted the award ceremony at the State Banquet Hall in Agodi, Ibadan.
