Oyo State Nominates Late Professor Ojetunji Aboyade and Funke Aboyade SAN for Awards

Oyo State has nominated the late Professor Ojetunji Aboyade, a distinguished economist and public intellectual, alongside his daughter, Ms. Olufunk Aboyade SAN, for awards in honor of the state's 50th anniversary.

The nominations were conveyed through formal letters issued by the Oyo State 50 Secretariat on January 19, 2026. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 3, 2026, at the Oyo State Banquet Hall in the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan.

Governor Seyi Makinde will host the ceremony. Late Professor Ojetunji Aboyade, born on September 9, 1931, was a renowned economist and development thinker who made significant contributions to Nigeria's economic history.

His daughter, Funke Aboyade SAN, is a leading legal practitioner and the managing partner of Aboyade & Co. She has also served as an independent non-executive director on the board of the Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company.
