Abuja Resident Doctors Suspend Strike After Senate Intervention

Abuja Resident Doctors have suspended their indefinite strike following intervention from the Senate. The President confirmed the suspension on Friday, with doctors set to return to work on Monday, September 22, 2025.

The decision came after the Senate Committee on Federal Territory Area Councils and Ancillary Matters, along with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, intervened. However, the doctors' demands have not been fully addressed yet.

The strike, which began on September 14, 2025, was due to frustrations over unfulfilled promises and poor working conditions. The doctors' association held an emergency meeting and decided to suspend the strike after it paralyzed services across 14 district general hospitals in the FCT.

Dr. Ebong highlighted issues like salary delays and manpower shortages as key reasons for the action.
