Abuja Teaching Hospital Receives Equipment from Church Group

The University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) in Gwagwalada has received medical equipment and renovated facilities for its Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) and labour ward through an intervention by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This initiative aims to improve maternal and newborn healthcare and reduce maternal and infant mortality.
At the handover ceremony, Elder Christian Chigbundu, the Church Team lead, emphasized the church's commitment to humanitarian service and caring for the vulnerable. He noted that UATH was selected due to the high number of women giving birth there and the institution's management capabilities.
Professor Thairu Yunusa, the Chief Medical Director of UATH, expressed gratitude for the state-of-the-art equipment, stating it would enhance healthcare delivery and improve patient outcomes. He highlighted that this intervention aligns with the Federal Government's efforts to improve population health outcomes and called for additional support from individuals and organizations to bolster healthcare services.
