Canadian Doctor Donates Medical Equipment to Anambra Maternity Home

Dr Charles Kene Ojukwu, a Canada-based Nigerian doctor, donated medical equipment to the Immaculate Heart Maternity Home and Laboratory Centre at Christ the King Parish, Abatete, through the Charles Kene Ojukwu Initiative Foundation. The commissioning took place on October 11, led by Most Rev. Valerian Maduka Okeke, the Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha.

He emphasized the need for increased investment in rural healthcare and urged support from governments, communities, and Nigerians in the diaspora. The donated equipment included an autoclave, suction machine, cardiac monitor, oxygen cylinder, delivery bed, fetal Doppler, nebuliser, diagnostic ultrasound machine, phototherapy machine, and minor surgical instruments.

Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, praised Ojukwu's intervention, which aims to improve maternal and newborn healthcare. Ojukwu was motivated to donate after observing equipment shortages during a visit.

Sister Winifred Maduwuba, representing the facility's management, requested a solar power system and a high-capacity generator for reliable electricity supply.
