Nigerian Modernism Exhibition Launches at Tate Modern

Access Holdings and Coronation Group hosted a private reception in London to celebrate the enduring legacy of Nigerian modernism. The exhibition, titled "Nigerian Modern," will run from October 10, 2025, to May 8, 2026, at Tate Modern, showcasing nearly 300 works from 50 Nigerian artists spanning five decades.

The exhibition includes paintings, sculptures, textiles, and ceramics, reflecting the evolution of modern Nigerian art from the 1940s to the post-independence era. It is expected to attract 180,000 visitors and has garnered extensive media coverage, reaching hundreds of millions worldwide.

Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Chairman of Access Holdings and Coronation Group, noted the exhibition's impact on young people, with nearly 2,800 students experiencing African heritage through the artwork. The exhibition also serves as a diplomatic tool, reinforcing Nigeria's cultural identity on a global stage, especially during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's historic visit to London.

Karin Hinsbo, Interim Director of Tate Modern, emphasized the strength of the partnership behind the exhibition.
