ACF Board Declares Chairman's Suspension Illegal

The Board of Trustees of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has voided the suspension of its chairman, Bashir Dalhatu, labeling the action as illegal and reckless. In a statement issued on Sunday, the board accused a disgruntled minority within the forum of convening an illegitimate meeting on May 6, 2026, and making unfounded allegations against Dalhatu.

The board emphasized that the National Executive Council lacks constitutional authority to appoint, suspend, or remove members of the Board of Trustees, including the chairman. They described the actions taken as dangerous, indicative of gross insubordination, and an attempt to undermine the foundation of the forum.

The board also criticized the chairman of the National Executive Committee, Mike Mamman Osman, for permitting these alleged illegal actions. Furthermore, the board announced that Murtala Aliyu, the former secretary-general whose tenure expired on March 10, 2026, had no authority in the matter.

The board called for a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the allegations against Dalhatu, reaffirming their confidence in his leadership.
