ACPN Showcases Community Pharmacy Reforms in Montreal

The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN), under the leadership of National Chairman Pharm. Ambrose Igwekamma Ezeh, showcased its community pharmacy reforms at the 84th FIP World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences held in Montreal, Canada, from August 30 to September 2, 2026.

The congress theme was “One Health, One Pharmacy – Bridging science, practice, and education.” Pharm. Ezeh announced plans to introduce tiered, subsidised professional development grants aimed at alleviating financial burdens on younger pharmacists.

He emphasized that the CPACPI initiative was designed to address challenges faced by community pharmacists, including operational pressures and regulatory shortcomings. Ezeh advocated for the recognition of accredited community pharmacies as primary healthcare facilities and called for government support to integrate them into the national healthcare system.

He stressed the importance of collaboration among stakeholders for the sustainability of these initiatives, highlighting the need for regulatory support and enforcement against illegal medicine outlets.
