NUPRC Reports 127 Million Barrels Supplied to Refineries

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) reported that domestic refineries received more than 127 million barrels of Nigerian crude oil and condensate from January to September 2026, indicating improvements in the Domestic Crude Supply Obligation (DCSO). The federal government is pursuing a commercially sustainable approach to rehabilitate the four national refineries located in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna to avoid them becoming stranded assets.
Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, NUPRC Chief Executive, stated that the commission is consulting with producers and refiners on a domestic crude swap framework to enhance efficiency. In September, Nigeria's crude oil production averaged 1.717 million barrels per day, marking a 2.34 percent increase from August.
This production level has met or exceeded quotas for five consecutive months, attributed to improved asset integrity and enhanced security of evacuation infrastructure.
