Tunji Disu Appointed Acting IG, Vows Zero Tolerance for Corruption

Tunji Disu was appointed as the Acting Inspector General of Police on Wednesday, shortly after President Bola Tinubu decorated him at the State House in Abuja. Disu declared a zero-tolerance policy for corruption and an end to impunity within the Nigeria Police Force.

He emphasized the importance of human rights training for police officers and the need for cooperation with the public to ensure effective policing. Disu expressed his surprise at the appointment and highlighted the emotional moment during the ceremony, where President Tinubu acknowledged his career achievements.

The outgoing Inspector General, Kayode Egbetokun, attended the ceremony and expressed confidence in Disu's ability to lead the force. Egbetokun had submitted his resignation letter citing family issues, just 24 hours before the ceremony.

Disu's tenure is set to last until his mandatory retirement on April 13, 2026.
