Nigeria's Internet Subscribers Reach 157.7 Million in 2026

As of July 2026, the number of active internet subscribers in Nigeria reached 157,706,496, according to data from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). This figure represents a steady increase over the past 12 months, starting from 140,328,196 in August 2025.

Internet data usage also rose to 1,662,021.45 terabytes in July 2026, up from 1,532,172.67 terabytes in June 2026. The data shows a consistent upward trend in both active subscribers and data usage, with notable monthly increases recorded throughout the year.

For instance, active subscribers grew from 140,949,570 in September 2025 to 157,405,351 in May 2026, before a slight dip in June. Similarly, internet data usage fluctuated but ultimately increased from 1,152,347.24 terabytes in August 2025 to the current figure.

Gbenga Adebayo, Chairman of the Association of Licensed Telecoms Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), attributed this growth to stable regulatory policies and initiatives.
