Nigeria Telecoms Subscriptions Reach 192M in June 2026

As of June 2026, Nigeria's telecoms subscriptions totaled 192,232,120, reflecting a teledensity of 88.67%, up from 189,675,650 subscriptions and a teledensity of 87.50% in May 2026, according to data from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). MTN holds the largest market share with 98,643,681 subscribers (51.38%), followed by Airtel with 66,121,645 (34.44%), Globacom with 23,682,605 (12.34%), and T2 with 3,538,021 (1.84%).

The steady growth over the past year is attributed to stable regulatory policies from the NCC and a 50% tariff hike approved for telecom operators in January 2025, which has allowed operators to cover operating costs and reinvest in network expansion. The Chairman of the Association of Licensed Telecoms Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), Gbenga Adebayo, stated that this investment has significantly contributed to the growth in subscriptions.
