Judy Austin's ₦1 Billion Defamation Case Adjourned to 2026

A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has adjourned actress Judy Austin's ₦1 billion defamation case against her former husband, Emmanuel Obasi, to November 24, 2026. The case was heard on September 29, 2026, when Obasi's legal team challenged the court's jurisdiction.

Austin filed the lawsuit in August 2026, claiming defamation due to statements attributed to Obasi. She is requesting ₦1 billion in general damages, ₦500 million in aggravated damages, and another ₦500 million in exemplary damages, along with ₦100 million for prosecuting the case.

Austin demands that Obasi publish a full retraction and apology in at least two national newspapers and on his social media platforms. She also seeks to prevent Obasi from making further defamatory statements and to have previous posts containing such material removed.

The case is part of an ongoing dispute between the couple, which has included issues regarding their children, with Obasi alleging he has been unable to see them for over 12 years.
