Emmanuel Obasi Updates on Judy Austin's Defamation Case

Emmanuel Obasi, the ex-husband of actress Judy Austin, shared an update after a court appearance in Abuja related to a defamation lawsuit filed against him by Austin. On September 29, 2026, Obasi posted a court document and stated that his legal team had served the opposing counsel with an application questioning the court's authority to hear the case.

The proceedings concluded smoothly, and the case has been adjourned until November 24, 2026. Judy Austin filed the lawsuit in July, seeking N500 million in aggravated damages and N500 million in exemplary damages, along with N100 million in general damages and N100 million for legal costs.

She also requested a retraction of allegedly defamatory posts and a restraining order against further similar publications. Obasi indicated he would follow his lawyers' guidance and focus on the legal process rather than public commentary.
