Democrat Alliance Appeals INEC Access Code Ruling

The Democrat Alliance, under the leadership of Chief Akin Rickett, is set to appeal a judgment from the Federal High Court in Abuja, which ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to release party registration access codes. The court found that INEC unlawfully issued access codes to Dr.

Umar Ardo, who was deemed not recognized as the pro-tem national chairman or pro-tem secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The Rickett-led faction argues that the judgment imposes an outside leadership on the party and that the court did not order INEC to register the Democrat Alliance but merely to release the access codes.

The appeal is being filed to overturn the decision, with a hearing already scheduled. Justice Peter Lifu's ruling requires INEC to reopen its registration portal within 72 hours to allow the Democrat Alliance to upload its membership registration and statutory documents.
