ADC to Appeal Court Ruling on Deregistration by INEC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced its intention to appeal a judgment from the Federal High Court in Abuja, which ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the party. Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC's spokesperson, confirmed that the party would approach the appeal court immediately to contest the ruling.

Abdullahi emphasized that despite previous challenges, ADC has built a strong political structure and is committed to internal democratic processes. He described the party's resilience in the face of obstacles and stated that ADC has set unprecedented standards during its primaries.

The court's ruling, issued by Justice Peter Odo Lifu, directed INEC to stop recognizing ADC, which could bar the party from participating in the upcoming 2027 general elections pending compliance with constitutional requirements. The ADC aims to confront this legal challenge head-on.
