Durkwa Sues ADC, INEC Over Adamawa Primary Election Results

Ishaya Durkwa, a governorship aspirant for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State, has initiated legal action against the ADC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the primary election results. Durkwa lost the primary election held on May 23, 2026, to Omar Suleiman, who was declared the winner.

In his suit filed at the Federal High Court sitting in Yola, Durkwa is requesting the court to restrain the declaration of Omar Suleiman as the winner of the primary election. He alleges that the electoral process violated the Electoral Act, claiming it was neither free nor fair.

Durkwa is seeking an order to nullify the primary election results and to direct the ADC to conduct a fresh governorship primary election in compliance with Sections 84 and 86 of the Electoral Act.
