Adamawa Governor Fintiri Defects to APC from PDP

On Friday, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri announced his official defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a broadcast to the people of the state. Fintiri explained that his decision was based on the need to advance growth and progress in Adamawa State.

His defection was accompanied by a significant political shift, as a large group of lawmakers from the Adamawa State House of Assembly also resigned from the PDP. This included the Deputy Speaker, Moham Buba Jijiwa, and a total of thirteen lawmakers who resigned during a plenary session.

The Speaker, Bathiya Wesley, read their resignation letters to their colleagues. Fintiri's move is attributed to problems within the PDP at the national level, which influenced the choices of the lawmakers.

It is expected that these defecting lawmakers will join the APC, although some may decide on their political future later.
