Folarin Balogun, a forward for the United States Men's National Team, scored two goals in a 4-1 victory against Paraguay during the 2026 FIFA World Cup opener held in Los Angeles on Saturday. Balogun, who was born in Brooklyn to Nigerian parents and raised in London, delivered an impressive performance, scoring both goals in the first half, which earned him the Man of the Match award.

This achievement marked him as the first player from the United States Men's National Team to score two goals in a World Cup match since the tournament's inception in 1930. His teammate, Akor Adam Terem Moffi, celebrated Balogun's display on Instagram, expressing appreciation with heart emojis.

Balogun reflected on the significance of the night, stating it was a dream come true and emphasized the importance of fan support. He has scored 11 goals in 28 appearances for the United States and 19 goals this season for Monaco, where he received the club's Player of the Season award.
