Kalu Criticizes Justice Lifu's Ruling on ADC Deregistration

Kalu, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) legal team, expressed strong criticism towards Justice Peter Lifu following his ruling on June 15, which ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the ADC along with four other political parties. Kalu described Lifu's judgment as "useless," asserting that it was deeply flawed and ignored a prior ruling from the Court of Appeal that stated lower courts must adhere to appellate court decisions.

He emphasized that even law students would recognize the error in Lifu's ruling. Kalu pointed out that the case was initiated by the National Forum of Former Legislators, which he claimed lacked proper jurisdiction as it involved non-jurists.

He noted that the matter had been filed in December of the previous year and criticized the amendment processes that occurred without court orders. Kalu's remarks were made in light of the ongoing legal proceedings and the implications for the ADC's participation in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
