Atiku Abubakar Condemns ADC Deregistration Judgment

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, condemned a recent court judgment that seeks to deregister the African Democratic Congress (ADC), labeling it a dangerous tactic by President Bola Tinubu's administration. In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, Abubakar expressed alarm over the judgment, which he believes threatens Nigeria's democratic pluralism and rule of law.

He noted that the judgment was delivered despite a subsisting order from the Court of Appeal, which had instructed that further proceedings in the matter be stayed pending the determination of an appeal. Abubakar argued that this judgment reflects an escalating pattern of political persecution aimed at weakening opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He urged ADC members to support democratic governance and resist intimidation, emphasizing that the struggle transcends political parties and is a battle for the soul of Nigerian democracy.
