ADC Faction Demands INEC Compliance with Court Ruling

A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is advocating for the recognition of Bala as the national chairman, following a court of appeal judgment delivered on March 12, 2026. The faction, led by Abimiku Mondai, is calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to comply with the court's ruling, warning that failure to do so could undermine ongoing judicial proceedings.

They have formally notified INEC of the legal representation and demanded compliance by March 15, 2026, with a seven-day ultimatum to avoid contempt proceedings. Mondai emphasized that the rule of law binds all parties and that no institution in Nigeria is above the law.

Abdullahi Ahm led a protest to reinforce the importance of adhering to judicial orders, stating that ignoring such rulings threatens the foundation of democracy and public trust in electoral bodies. INEC's current leadership, represented by Moham Hamma, was noted to be engaged in official duties in Lagos at the time of the protest.
