ADC Challenges INEC Over Court Order Violations

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a strong rebuttal to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following comments made by INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan. In an exclusive interview, Amupitan warned that the ADC's congresses might violate existing court orders.

The ADC, represented by its spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi, contends that INEC has overstepped its supervisory role and is attempting to halt lawful processes. The party argues that INEC's actions could weaken opposition parties' ability to operate freely, which is essential for a multi-party democracy.

Former presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu advised aspirants for the 2027 general elections to avoid the ADC to prevent legal entanglements. The ADC maintains that INEC's reliance on the doctrine of "statu quo" is flawed and that the commission should not interfere in internal party matters unless explicitly ordered by a court.

The ADC emphasizes its commitment to complying with legal standards while asserting its right to conduct internal processes without undue interference.
