ADC to Appeal Court Ruling on Deregistration by INEC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced its intention to appeal a judgment from the Federal High Court in Abuja, which ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the party. The ruling, delivered by Justice Peter Odulifunmilayo, stated that the ADC, along with Action Alliance, Action Peoples Party, and Zenith Labour Party, failed to meet the constitutional requirements necessary for political party registration.

The ADC's spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, emphasized that the party would begin the appeal process immediately and remains a strong political platform capable of defending its position legally. Abdullahi noted that the ADC has faced significant challenges in the past but is determined to continue its political activities and prepare for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

He expressed confidence that the appeal court would ultimately determine the matter in favor of the ADC, which he described as accustomed to overcoming obstacles.
