ADC Appoints Senator Akobundu as Campaign Council Leader

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed Senator Augustine Okwudiri Akobundu as the Director-General of its Presidential Campaign Council, positioning him to lead the party's national campaign operations for the 2027 general elections. Akobundu, who represents Abia Central Senatorial District, will coordinate the campaign's political, organizational, and operational aspects across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

His responsibilities include aligning field structures, managing stakeholders, and ensuring cohesive collaboration within the campaign council. Akobundu's extensive background includes military service, where he retired as a Colonel, and roles in business and public administration, including serving as Minister of State for Defence.

He joined the ADC in March 2026 and has since integrated into the party's national structure. With the campaign council now established, the focus shifts to executing a coordinated campaign strategy to engage voters nationwide.
