ADC Shortlists Tambuwal, Akobundu for Campaign DG Role

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has shortlisted Senators Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and Austin Akobundu as potential candidates for the role of Director General (DG) of its Presidential Campaign Council. This decision comes as the David Mark-led National Working Committee (NWC) prepares to establish the council for the ADC's presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Rt.

Hon. Rotimi Amaechi. Senator Tambuwal, who represents Sokoto South Senatorial District, has a notable political background, having served as the two-term governor of Sokoto State from 2015 to 2023 and as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015.

He has been influential in Northwest politics and has shifted party affiliations multiple times. Senator Akobundu, representing Abia Central Senatorial District, was first elected to the Senate in 2023 and has a military background as a retired Colonel.

He previously served as Minister of State for Defence and was affiliated with the PDP before joining the ADC. Public campaigns for the 2027 elections commenced on August 19, 2026, with elections scheduled for January 16, 2027.
