Southern ADC Aspirants Seek Deals Ahead of 2027 Elections

In an interview, Mark Adebayo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), revealed that southern aspirants are trying to strike deals with prominent political figures such as Rabiu Kwankwaso and Nasir El-Rufai in preparation for the 2027 elections. Adebayo confirmed that there is growing opposition within the ADC against Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President, who is perceived as a formidable contender for the party's presidential ticket.

Despite this opposition, Adebayo expressed skepticism about the chances of Atiku edging out the race. He noted that even delegates from the South East might support Atiku during the ADC primaries.

Adebayo criticized the decision of Peter Obi to join a coalition, suggesting it was an error that could impact the party's dynamics as they approach the elections.
