Adebutu Announces 2027 Ogun Governorship Bid Again

Adebutu has officially declared his intent to run for the Ogun State governorship election again in 2027, as communicated in a letter addressed to the leadership of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) at both state and local levels on April 30, 2026. In the letter, he expressed appreciation for the continued support and loyalty of party leaders and members, emphasizing the need for unity and discipline within the party as they approach the upcoming elections.

Adebutu reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals of the PDP and his desire to provide purposeful leadership for the people of Ogun State. His decision to seek the governorship seat again stems from his long-standing involvement with the party and a commitment to strengthen the PDP across the state.

Adebutu, who was the PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, lost to the incumbent governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress by a margin of 13,915 votes and subsequently challenged the election outcome in court, ultimately losing the legal battle.
