Temitop Adeshina Qualifies for NCAA Outdoor Championship

Temitop Adeshina, the Nigerian high jump record holder, has qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championship set to take place from June 10-13 in Eugene, Oregon. During the NCAA West Preliminary held on Saturday at John McDonnell Field, Adeshina cleared a height of 1.87m, finishing first overall alongside her Texas Tech teammate Evelyn Laviel, who placed fourth.

This marks Adeshina's third consecutive appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championship, where she hopes to secure an outdoor title that has eluded her thus far. The 27-year-old has had an impressive season, winning two indoor titles and three consecutive Big 12 high jump crowns earlier in the year.

Adeshina, who is also a recipient of the Intern Student Athlete Excel Award in the women's category at Texas Tech's 2026 Red and Black Gala, set a Nigerian national record in 2024 and aims to represent Nigeria at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, becoming the second Nigerian woman to compete in Olympic high jump after Doreen Amata.
