Temitop Adeshina Wins NCAA Outdoor High Jump Title

Temitop Adeshina, a 27-year-old Nigerian athlete, secured her first NCAA outdoor title in the high jump at the NCAA Track and Field Championship held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. She cleared a height of 1.96 meters on her first attempt, marking her third NCAA crown.

Previously, Adeshina won the indoor high jump title in 2025 and 2026, becoming the second Texas Tech athlete to win at least three national titles, joining Salli Kipyego. She is the first Red Raider to win the women's high jump outdoor championship since Zarriea Willi in 2019.

Throughout the season, Texas Tech athletes achieved nine national titles across men's and women's programs, with Adeshina contributing significantly to this success. Earlier in the year, she received the Intern Student Athlete Excel Award in the women's category at the 2026 Red and Black Gala.

Adeshina represented Nigeria at the Paris 2024 Olympics, finishing outside the medal positions, and is one of the few Nigerian women to compete in Olympic high jump events.
