Adeyinka Betting Allegation: NANPF Demands Fair Play, Justice

The National Association of Nigerian Professional Footballers (NANPF) has made a passionate appeal for fairness and justice in the handling of the recent betting allegation against suspended Plateau United goalkeeper, Adewale Adeyinka. The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) suspended Adeyinka following allegations of insider betting during the season.

NANPF emphasized the importance of due process and fair hearing, cautioning against rushing to judgment, which could lead to a miscarriage of justice and damage to the player's career and reputation. The union called on NPFL to reflect the principles of fairness and grant Adeyinka a chance to be heard before taking any disciplinary action.

NANPF suggested a temporary ban on match participation rather than deregistering the player to ensure the integrity of the sport is preserved. Executive Secretary Comrade Austin Popo stressed the need for fairness, due process, and protection of the rights of all members involved.
