NPFL Suspends Plateau United Goalkeeper, Adeyinka Over Betting Allegation

The NPFL has suspended Plateau United goalkeeper, Adewale Adeyinka, over allegations of betting. The suspension was based on a formal complaint lodged against the player this season.

The league body expressed deep suspicion after Adeyinka allegedly refused to sign a contract with a prospective club due to a clause that could lead to immediate termination in case of betting implications. The NPFL reminded the player that Article B of the Framework Rules prohibits players from engaging in betting.

Adeyinka's registration will only be reinstated once the investigation clears him of any wrongdoing, with a warning that any betting on matches could lead to further consequences. Adeyinka had joined Plateau United from Kwara United at the start of last season.
