Afenifere Commends Tinubu on State Police Commitment

Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, praised President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to establishing state police in Nigeria. In a statement issued by the organization's Public Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, Afenifere commended Tinubu for his resolve to advance the establishment of state police and called on the National Assembly to expedite amendments to relevant constitutional sections to facilitate this initiative.

Additionally, Afenifere highlighted the recent surge in terrorist activities in South West Nigeria, urging state governments and security agencies to take immediate action to rescue areas plagued by banditry. The organization expressed alarm over the devaluation of human life in the region, citing daily occurrences of kidnappings and brutal assaults on victims.

Afenifere called for the implementation of mechanisms to raid bandit hideouts and maintain regular surveillance, while also urging the federal government to cooperate in ensuring the effectiveness of state police. The organization noted that the challenges posed by banditry are not insurmountable and identified various sources of funding for these criminal activities.
