Afenifere Leader Pa Reuben Fasoranti to Be Buried December 2026

The family of the late Pa Reuben Fasoranti, leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organization Afenifere, has announced his burial arrangements after he passed away at his residence in Akure, Ondo State, at the age of 100. The burial will take place on December 17, 2026.

A Christian wake-keeping service is scheduled for December 16, 2026, at Fasoranti’s residence. The funeral service and interment will occur at St. David’s Cathedral, Ijomu, Akure, with interment following immediately at the Church Cemetery.

Guests will be received at the family residence post-interment. An outing and thanksgiving service will be held on December 20, 2026, at the same cathedral.

Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, the Secretary to the Ondo State Government and son of the deceased, described his father as a great man whose legacy would be hard to match. The Southern Senators’ Forum and the South-West House of Representatives Caucus extended their condolences, recognizing Fasoranti's contributions to the Yoruba and Nigeria.
