Afenifere Leader Reuben Fasoranti Celebrates 100th Birthday

Reuben Fasoranti, the leader of Afenifere, marked his 100th birthday on May 11, receiving accolades from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a statement issued on Sunday, Tinubu described Fasoranti as a symbol of integrity and principled leadership, acknowledging his extensive service to Nigeria.

Tinubu emphasized that Fasoranti deserves recognition for his uncommon life dedicated to noble causes. Fasoranti's educational achievements include studying at the University of Ibadan, obtaining a postgraduate diploma from the University of Hull, and earning a master's degree in educational administration from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia.

He has had a significant impact on education in Ondo State, establishing several educational institutions, including Omoler Nursery and Primary School and Akure High School. Politically, Fasoranti was a member of the defunct Action Group during the First Republic and later the Unity Party of Nigeria during the Second Republic, being recognized as the last surviving disciple of the late sage Obafemi Awolowo.
