Tinubu and Governors Celebrate Reuben Fasoranti at 100

President Bola Tinubu, along with governors and members of the Afenifere socio-cultural group, celebrated Reuben Fasoranti on his 100th birthday, recognizing his significant contributions to Nigeria and Yoruba culture. In a statement issued on Saturday, Tinubu described Fasoranti as a "towering figure" of integrity and discipline, emphasizing his dedication to the nation.

Tinubu noted Fasoranti's educational background, including studies at the University of Ibadan and the University of Hull, and his role in establishing various educational institutions. Fasoranti served on the Ondo State Finance Commission from 1979 to 1983 and was a prominent voice against military dictatorship during Nigeria's military era.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji also praised Fasoranti's unwavering commitment to public service and his impact on the development of Yoruba land. The event highlighted Fasoranti's resilience in overcoming personal losses, including the deaths of his wife in 1991 and daughter Funke Olakunrin in 2019.
