AFN Congratulates Ajayi and Ogazi for Record-Breaking Feats

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has congratulated athletes Kanyinsola Ajayi and Samuel Ogazi for their remarkable achievements at the NCAA East Region Championship. Kanyinsola Ajayi, competing for Auburn University, set a new Nigerian record in the men's 100m with a time of 9.84 seconds, breaking the previous record of 9.85 seconds held by Olusoji Fasuba since 2006.

Samuel Ogazi, a student at the University of Alabama, recorded a world-leading time of 43.82 seconds in the 400m, achieving a new personal best. AFN President Tonobok Okowa praised the athletes for their outstanding performances and expressed pride in the success of Nigerian athletes at the NCAA region meets.

Okowa also noted that several other Nigerian athletes, including Israel Okon, Nichola Fakored, and others, have qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Eugene next month.
